IWR6843ISK: Need StaticDetectionCfg to run on a python visualizer

Part Number: IWR6843ISK

Tool/software:

I want to run area_scanner  or something similar on my IWR6843ISK device.  I have loaded the binary on my device.  Then I load the area_scanner config file, which has some very specialized commands.

Specifically:  heatmapGenCfg and staticDetectionCfg.  These I need to be able to identify static humans walking into a scene.  I want to be able to run a visualizer in python (not in Matlab).  It seems the

visualizer for area_scanner is a matlab program, not a python program.   If I try to use the area_scanner config with Out_of_the_box binary, it does not recognize those specific config files for static detection.   Is there a binary

that will run on Industrial_visualizer or something similar that is in python, and also recognize those config commands..  Industrial_visualizer cannot parse area_scanner binary output because the format out is different.

My project runs on a computer that is very specialized using linux and only runs python.

Please help!

Thanks,

larry

  • Hello Larry,

Short answer is there is no immediately available solution to have the area scanner solution integrated into the Applications visualizer. That said, if you are working with stationary people, then the objects are not truly static. From the perspective of radar with its high doppler visibility, a stationary person is not static due to breathing, heart beat, and other subtle motions made by humans. The area scanner application is more for detecting chairs/tables/truly static objects that show up within the scene after a capture of the environment when empty is done. Have you tried 3D People Tracking 6843 with the fineMotion chain enabled? Also called static retention.
