OPT4001-Q1: OPT4001-Q1 and thermal pad

Hi TI,

Should/could I connect thermal pad of OPT4001-Q1 ambient light sensor in USON-6 package?
I mean, can thermal pad be connected to GND or it must remain unconnected?
I found no remarks on this topic in datasheet. It only states that thermal pad must be soldered.

Thermal pad can be connected to ground, it should not be connected to any other pin.

Hello Joseph,

Thank you for the clarification. I was going to ask if the same applies to other new ALS sensors like OPT4041, 48, 60 but I am showing that they soon will be offered in SOT-5X3 pkg only. It seems that SOT-5X3 pkg is currently the most preferred.

Hello Tomasz ,

Glad to help. For reference all of the current OPT products with thermal pad can have that pad tied to ground.
