AWR2944PEVM: How to make auto PHY work on AWR2944P EVM

Part Number: AWR2944PEVM

Tool/software:

Hi,

Based on the mmwave_mcuplus_sdk_04_07_00_01\mcu_plus_sdk_awr2x44p_10_00_00_07\examples\networking\lwip\enet_cpsw_tcpserver, change it to support auto PHY based on the guidance in sdk readme, but face below error. would u pls check and let me know the possible cause, thanks.

  • Hi Andy,

Can you please confirm if the customer has made the following hardware modification on their EVM to enable the AUTO PHY functionality:

    Regards,

    Shruti

  • Shruti,

can u share BU's test sw and HW setup so that we can compare to find the possible cause, thanks.

  • Shruti,

below show the latest log, pls check and let me know the debug comments. CPSW_tcpserver example in sdk4.7.0.0 is run, HW, syscfg and SW code are changed to run auto PHY in 1Gbps.

  • Hi Andy,

Please find the HW setup needed to test the tcp server example:

You have to use either a router or an ethernet switch between your evm and the host pc. Also, make sure that the router or the ethernet switch has the dhcp enabled.

In case you are using the AUTO PHY for this testing, and you don't have the auto phy connector in your router, then you have to use the media converter board to get the connection from auto phy port to the router. sharing a snippet here for your reference:

So, now the connection you should have at your end is, EVM auto phy port ---> media converter board ----> router/ethernet switch with dhcp enabled ---> host PC

Let me know if you have any further query around this topic.

    Regards,

    Shruti

  • Shruti,

Customer tried to connect EVM to ethernet switch system, connected with RJ45 port, run tcp server and udp client demo, it can work well to have address allocated well. While connected with auto eth port, cannot link up. So the hardware connection should be ok.

I found customer did not change the board as below, would it impact the connection test? My understanding ESD diodes would only impact the esd related.

    15. Populate D18 and D19 ESD diodes

Look forward to your comments. Thanks.

    Andy

  • Hi Andy,

It's better to have all the modifications which are mentioned in the user guide, since the team has verified with the similar HW setup.

    Regards,

    Shruti

  • Shruti,

Can u check internal and share me the SW project and binary BU has ever verified, so that i can cross check, really appreciated.

    Andy

  • Hi Andy,

can we first check with a basic external loopback example to verify if the AUTO phy is responding or not?

sharing a sample log here for your reference:

make sure that you are getting the phy alive and link up logs while running the test.

    Regards,

    Shruti

  • Shruti,

sorry for the late update here. Last week already made it work through change one new power adapter for the PHY converter. We can close this issue.

    Thanks.

    Andy

  • Hi Andy,

Good to know that your issue is resolved, closing this thread here.
