IWRL6432: numOfChirpsAccum parameter for frameCfg

Part Number: IWRL6432

Tool/software:

If NumOfBurstsInFrame is set to 64, what will be the received chirps per frame if I set numOfChirpsAccum to 11? Also, will larger numOfChirpsAccum increase SNR significantly?

  • Hello,

If NumOfBurstsInFrame is set to 64, what will be the received chirps per frame if I set numOfChirpsAccum to 11?

The number of chirps received would still be the same as without chirp accumulation, assuming both tx are enabled then you will still get 128 chirps per frame. This is because the chirps are accumulated before the ADC data is sent out so that the actual number of chirps to process is not increased.

Also, will larger numOfChirpsAccum increase SNR significantly?

The received power is related to the chirp time which is increased with when using chirp accumulation and this is why there is an SNR benefit. A simple way to think about it is that for every doubling of chirp accumulation you get an additional 3dB. So chirp accumulation of 11 would provide a bit more than 9dB.

    Best regards,
