IWR1843BOOST: Configuration to detect stationary and moving vehicles, and extraction of processed output using IWR1843 boost along without DCA1000EVM

Part Number: IWR1843BOOST
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: IWR1843, DCA1000EVM

Tool/software:

Currently Iam using IWR1843 (without DCA1000EVM), and configuring the output in mmWave Demo visualizer,

1. I want to Configure the sensor to detect stationary and moving (objects, humans, bikes, cars, trucks) up to 75 meters, with maximum Field of View (FoV), and export processed detection data using (no DCA1000EVM).

2. What parameters in the configuration (e.g., chirp design, profileCfg) need to be adjusted?

3. How can I save the processed output data (i.e., detection points with range, velocity, etc.) into a CSV or Excel-compatible format using the mmWave Demo Visualizer?

4. What is the maximum range and maxiimum fov (Horizontal field of view and vertical field of view) that i can configure using IWR1843 boost?

5. Anyother tools to visualize the output apart from point clouds? what other ouputs can be visualized apart from point cloud without DCA1000EVM

6. Can i live stream the output to save or process further, if yes please suggest any micro controllers which help or compaitable?

  • Hi,

We have received your query. Please give us a day or two to respond back.

  • Hello.

    1. I want to Configure the sensor to detect stationary and moving (objects, humans, bikes, cars, trucks) up to 75 meters, with maximum Field of View (FoV), and export processed detection data using (no DCA1000EVM).
    4. What is the maximum range and maxiimum fov (Horizontal field of view and vertical field of view) that i can configure using IWR1843 boost?

You can look at the MRR demo on the radar toolbox for a demo that can detect up to 150m with an azimuth FOV of .  This configuration, however, is hardcoded and will have to be modified in the SW itself.

We also have a demo for the xWRL1432BOOST-BSD EVM that can detect vehicles up to 120m and up to 40 m/s(90 mph).  It sends out the tracker information of the moving objects which includes its position and velocity with respect to the sensor.  The antenna design for this EVM has a FOV of 20 degrees in elevation and 90 degrees in azimuth.

    5. Anyother tools to visualize the output apart from point clouds? what other ouputs can be visualized apart from point cloud without DCA1000EVM

You can use the Industrial Visualizer for the bike radar demo or the MRR visualizer for the MRR demo included in the radar toolbox.

    6. Can i live stream the output to save or process further, if yes please suggest any micro controllers which help or compaitable?

You can save the processed UART data in a JSON file using the Industrial Visualizer and can process it however you wish.

    Sincerely,

    Santosh
