IWRL6432AOPEVM: Radar Toolbox's Industrial Visualizer not working

Part Number: IWRL6432AOPEVM

Tool/software:

The Radar Toolbox's Industrial Visualizer is not working with my IWRL6432AOPEVM, even after following all the steps mentioned in the Motion and Presence Detection Users Guide.

I am getting the following error:

ERROR [gui_parser.py:189] ERROR: No data detected on COM Port, read timed out
ERROR [gui_parser.py:190] Be sure that the device is in the proper SOP mode after flashing with the correct binary, and that the cfg you are sending is valid

I have ensured that the EVM has been flashed and then set to functional mode.

  • Hi,

We are looking into your query. Please allow us a day or two to respond back.

    Regards

  • Hi,

Are you flashing the prebuilt binary and using the default configuration? What is your radar toolbox version?

  • Yes, I am using the C:\ti\MMWAVE_L_SDK_05_05_03_00\tools\visualizer\visualizer.exe to successfully flash the C:\ti\MMWAVE_L_SDK_05_05_03_00\examples\mmw_demo\motion_and_presence_detection\prebuilt_binaries\xwrL64xx-aop\motion_and_presence_detection_demo_aop.release.appimage image.

I am using & sending the 'Object Tracking' Configuration.

The Radar Toolbox Version I am using is the latest available; version 3.10.00.05.

  • Hi,

You need to load the configuration via Industrial Visualizer. Are you performing that?

There will be a button to select, start and send configuration in the industrial visualizer gui.

    Regards

  • Yes, I am using and sending the C:\radar_toolbox_3_10_00_05\source\ti\examples\Industrial_and_Personal_Electronics\Motion_and_Presence_Detection\Motion_and_Presence_Detection\chirp_configs\height_based_detection\xwrl6432aop\sit_stand_detection.cfg configuration file through the Industrial Visualizer GUI.

That's when I get the error:

ERROR [gui_parser.py:189] ERROR: No data detected on COM Port, read timed out
ERROR [gui_parser.py:190] Be sure that the device is in the proper SOP mode after flashing with the correct binary, and that the cfg you are sending is valid

I have also ensured that the EVM has been power cycled and set to functional mode.

  • Hi,

In the picture attached as part of the thread, i can see that the config is not loaded.
Can you try flashing prebuilt binary present in the radar toolbox and send the configuration via industrial visualizer?

    Regards

  • The picture is for reference only.

I have also tried doing what you mentioned, but I am still getting the same error.

  • Hi,

Can you follow these steps once?

    1. Set device to flashing mode and press reset button.
    2. Flash the binary present in the following dir. (radar_toolbox_3_10_00_05\source\ti\examples\Industrial_and_Personal_Electronics\Motion_and_Presence_Detection\Motion_and_Presence_Detection\prebuilt_binaries)

    3. Set device to functional mode and press reset button.

4.Open Industrial Visualizer, select device and connect COM ports.

    5.Select this configuration

    (radar_toolbox_3_10_00_05\source\ti\examples\Industrial_and_Personal_Electronics\Motion_and_Presence_Detection\Motion_and_Presence_Detection\chirp_configs\height_based_detection)

    6. Click start and send configuration.

I tested these steps and it's working for me fyi.

    Regards
