Tool/software:
My team is working a IWR6843AOP product that is nearing completion and entering the FCC certification phase. This is the first product of this type and we are looking for some guidance on FCC certification. We have a custom firmware stack for the radar that deviates largely from any of the demo code, but still allows for a programmable radar profile in a similar fashion to the demo code. When we go to certify (an expensive operation) should we create a profile that is designed to get maximum bandwidth, power, and duty cycle out of the radar that would still fall within the regulatory guidelines? We would then have to adjust the profile after this to achieve the functionality we are looking for, but the radar emissions would be less than what we got our board certified for. What class of change would this fall under? A class I change would make this an appealing strategy for FCC certification. A class II change would require us to go find a 60-64ghz spectrum analyzer, which are extremely costly.
Any insight into this matter would be appreciated.
