AWR1843AOPEVM: MSS LOGGER

Part Number: AWR1843AOPEVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AWR1843AOP, , AWR1843

Tool/software:

Hi,

I am checking MSS logger data after flashing the code in the AWR1843AOP, however the MSS logger pin is showing continuous high value only (3.1V). The MSS Logger data is not being shown in the oscilloscope. The required voltages for operation of AWR1843AOP are within limits. What could be the possible reason behind this?

Thanks & regards,

Savita Lunia

  • Hello Savita,

Can you help me understand what is the requirement of the MSS logger in your application?
Let me check with the hardware experts, if for logger you require any particular setup

  • Hi Saswat,

We have flashed the pre-built binary of Lab007 MRR onto the AWR1843AOPEVM.
We are successfully able to flash the binary and after switching back to function mode (SOP2 made low by switching off S3 Switch) we are expecting radar data over UART (MSS Logger) but nothing is being transmitted.

If the NRST Crosses 1.7V before the SOP pins are stable, it will not put the device in the correct SOP mode. I think SOP mode is latched correctly only for functional mode as the switch is off before powering on the board and SOP2 pin is stable (Low) after powering on.

    Thanks & regards,

  • Hi Savita,

Please comment on which pin you are probing? and are you running any demos? Here is a similar thread that we had with another customer might help AWR1843AOPEVM: Radar raw data capturing and MRR - Sensors forum - Sensors - TI E2E support forums

  • Hi Aydin,

Thank you for sharing the similar thread. We have checked SOP configuration and probing on PINE2_PADAJ in program. We are using MRR demo, OOB demo and ODS demo. We are able to flash the code and checked the data in oscilloscope on Flash IC pins, however data is not coming on the flash IC pins when used in functional mode.

    Thanks & regards,

  • Hi Savita,

    Thanks for the clarification.

In Functional mode, the AWR1843 loads the firmware images from the flash IC over QSPI during boot up. So, if you're probing the QSPI lines, you should see a brief burst of activity right after the power up as device reads the image into internal memory. After that boot process is complete, the QSPI flash interface is no longer active, and no runtime data is sent to or from the flash. All runtime output is sent out via UARTB_TX.

Also, just a quick note, the pin name PINE2_PADAJ does not exist on the AWR1843AOPEVM. Please confirm which physical pin or net you are probing.

To proceed, I recommend probing at UARTB_TX pin on the EVM and if you're troubleshooting the QSPI read at boot, make sure to capture right at power up.

    Regards,

    Aydin
