hi there,

i'd like to estimate range and rcs when playing around with radar configuration. since this is not calculated by the mmwave sensing estimator in the advanced tab, i'd like to do it my own via the formula given in swra553a.pdf.

i spent some time now to get the required values but did not find all of them in the datasheets. for (Pt * Gtx) i'd assume 17dBm from the datasheet of IWRL6432AOP. is this correct?

but what i did not find were the values for Grx and NF. what values do i have to take here for calculation?

Hi Peter,

The EIRP (Effective Isotropic Radiated Power) includes the antenna gain and losses, hence that is correct, with no back off, 17dBm accounts for the Pt*Gt.

Similarly, EINF (Effective Isotropic Noise Figure) accounts for the receiver gain as well as the noise figure and losses.

Numbers quoted in the above table in data sheet (RF Specification) can be used directly in the link budget calculation.

the point with the EINF is not clear for me. for which parameter(s) do i insert the EINF?

Peter,

In place of the NF, you can put the EINF number. The EINF value is specified so that it can be applied in the link budget as is in place of the noise figure (NF)
