IWR6843ISK: Inquiry Regarding Point Cloud Results When IWR6843ISK Board is Rotated 180 Degrees

Part Number: IWR6843ISK

Tool/software:

Dear TI Support Team,

Hello.

I have a question regarding the orientation of the IWR6843ISK antenna board.

As shown in the attached image:

  • Case 1: The board is installed in its default orientation.

  • Case 2: The board is rotated 180 degrees from the default orientation..

We are currently in the process of designing a mechanical enclosure that integrates the IWR6843ISK, and due to the structure, the board will be installed as shown in Case 2.

In this case, when we run the Long Range People Detection project,
can we expect the same Point Cloud results as in Case 1?

Or does the 180-degree board rotation result in a different Point Cloud output due to a change in the coordinate system or antenna orientation?

Thank you in advance for your support.

Best regards,
Jaehoon Kim

  • Hi,

You should be able to achieve relatively consistent results in either orientation. They will vary slightly due to the antenna radiation patterns, but not dramatically. You will need to rotate the point cloud accordingly in your post-processing too.

    Best,

    Nate
