AWR1843AOP: AWR1843AOPEVM: Need Wider FOV in MRR Mode

Part Number: AWR1843AOP

Tool/software:

Hello TI Team,

I am working with the AWR1843AOPEVM and have flashed the Medium Range Radar (MRR) demo binary, enabling only MRR mode.

  • I tested the radar in open space up to 80 meters.

  • The detection results are accurate and reliable within the default configuration.

  • However, the Field of View (FOV) is very limited for my application.

Application Requirement:

For my use case, I need the radar application that:

  • Detect any object within 50 meters

  • With lateral FOV of ±1.7 meters from the radar’s centerline (i.e., total 3.4m FOV at 50m range)

That means:

If an object lies within 50 meters distance and is 1.7m to the left or right of the radar’s forward axis, it should be detected. I am okay with some compromise in range if needed, in order to increase the FOV.

What modifications or tuning can I make in the MRR application to increase the azimuth FOV for ?

Can you suggest alternate profiles or example applications using AWR1843AOPEVM that offer wider FOV?

Thanks
Mitesh Singh

  • Hi,

Unfortunately we don't have a different application that has larger FOV at this range.

Have you tried the mmWave SDK demo? It will provide larger FOV but the range will be shorter.

    thank you
