TMAG5131-Q1: Detection of fuel tank level

Part Number: TMAG5131-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMAG5233

Tool/software:

Hi team,

The customer's original plan used a TRM sensor to detect the liquid level in the fuel tank. The TRM sensor uses ALLEGRO's CT8150 (linear analog output, range of -8MT to -8MT, sensitivity of 5mV/v/GS). Now the customer plans to switch to Hall sensor technology. Can TMAG5131-Q1 meet the requirements? Is there a better recommended parts?Thank !

  • Hi Eric,

Thanks for reaching out. It appears that the CT8150 can operate as both an analog sensor and a digital switch. Is your customer trying to measure an analog value or a digital value?

If they want a digital output, then the TMAG5131-Q1 seems like a good fit for your application. Just be aware that the TMAG5131-Q1 measures flux along the z-axis of the package, whereas the CT8150 measures flux along the x-axis of the package.

If they want a sensor that measures flux along the x-axis, consider the TMAG5233 which also offers low power consumption (0.55uA @ 5Hz) and a high sensitivity (BOP=+/-3mT, BRP=+/-2.2mT)
