Hello TI,

I am having a problem with distance detection. For example: I detect an object at 56 cm when the actual distance is 50 cm. How can I solve this problem with calibration, and how can I limit the detection distance? I only want to detect up to a maximum of 1 m. Are there any tutorials or Lua scripts to solve this problem?

Hello,

Please go through section 2 of this document: https://www.ti.com/lit/an/swra553a/swra553a.pdf . You will learn that by increasing the chirp Slope configuration, you can reduce the maximum range and also improve the range resolution. After doing this, if there is a significant range error, you should correct for it in your data processing.

You mention the chirp slope = the frequency slope (MHz/us) in the profile config of mmwave studio TI ? I am using a frequency of 62.522 MHz because I am using the 4 GHz bandwidth. I don't know what the limit is; all my calculations are based on the 4 GHz bandwidth.

Hi,

In that case, you can increase the slope but reduce the ramp end time such that the bandwidth remains 4 GHz. Try to use the highest sampling rate supported in order to work with reduced ramp end time.

Hello,

This reduces distance peaks > 1 m. My question concerns auto-calibration. Is there an example of a .Lua file containing the auto-calibration configuration?

Hi,

In my understanding, this range correction needs to be done by the user to the data in post processing. We do not have any lua files or studio feature to support this correction. It needs to be done in user's own post processing code.
