TDC7200: Can we use it with other microcontrollers?

Part Number: TDC7200
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TDC1000,

Tool/software:

I just wanted to know whether I could use the TDC7200 sensor with any C2000 microcontroller like F28379D or any other microcontroller.

Also in the evaluation board, can I use the same microcontroller for testing as well as in the GUI?

Also I do not want to use the front end i.e. TDC1000. is it possible?

  • Hello Abhirup,

Yes, the TDC7200 uses a SPI interface.  Any microncontroller with SPI interface and the appropriate resources(Flash and RAM) can interface to the device.  Any C2000 microcontroller should have sufficient resources.

The TDC7200EVM interfaces with the MSP-EXP430F5529 launchpad.  The firmware on the launchpad includes the interface to the GUI.  I would suggest using this setup for testing with the GUI.

Sure, there is no requirement to use the TDC1000 with TDC7200.  TDC7200 can be used for timing a start and stop signal and doesn't matter what the source is.
