HDC2010: life of hdc2010

Hi expert,

The humidity sensor selected is used in the environment of energy storage containers, with a temperature range of -40℃ to 85℃ and a humidity measurement range of 5% to 95% (at least 15% to 90% is required).

The main challenge lies in the volatile gases inside the container, including: methyl ethyl ketone, cyclohexane, dodecamethylcyclohexasiloxane, 2,3,4,5-tetrahydropyridazine, dodecamethylhexasiloxane, tetradecamethylcycloheptasiloxane, formamide, n-hexane, methyl acetoacetate, ethyl acetoacetate, methoxyisopropoxymethoxy-silane, butyltrimethoxysilane, methyldiisopropoxysilane, etc.

The temperature accuracy requirement is ±1℃, and the humidity accuracy requirement is ±5%.

Is HDC2010 a good choice? Or do you have any suggestions?

We mainly want to know whether the service life can reach more than 10 years, and whether VOC gases will affect the service life and measurement accuracy of the temperature and humidity sensor.

    Unfortunately, for any polymer-based humidity sensor, long-term exposure to volatile gases will induce error in measurements. Therefore, we can't say for sure if the HDC2010 or any humidity sensor would maintain it's performance over a long period of time without some form of degredation to the sensing element from the gases.

    Will the container have any kind of ventilation or will the sensor be sealed in with the gases?

    In your use case, the only way to mitigate (not prevent/avoid) the effects of volatile gases is to utilize a humidity sensor with an IP67 filter such as the HDC2022 or for the best accuracy, the HDC3022.
