AWR2944EVM: Why warm_reset behave like this?

Part Number: AWR2944EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AWR2944

Tool/software:

Hi designer,

I find it hard to understand that why not  warm_reset gets pulled up and keeps rather than pulled down and then pulled up, after AWR2944 powered-on.

Could you help me to explain it.

Regards,

Zisheng Wang

  • Hi,

The purpose of warm reset (open drain pin) going low is to indicate the time the MMIC sees stable DC power, and MSS Boot Starts.  See start-up diagram below.

    Pin description in datasheet:

"Open drain fail safe warm reset signal. Can be driven from PMIC for diagnostic or can be used as status signal that the device is going through reset."

Let me know if you need more clarification.

    regards,

    Ali

  • Hi Ali,

I know description of  warm_resert Pin in data sheet.

As you can see in the figure you provide, the current level of warm_reset has a change from low to high after power on, but it keeps high current level when I test it.

Besides, the voltage of device is normal.

I want to know if it will result in something unpredictable and how to make it behave currently.

  • Hi Zisheng,

So you never see warm reset go low?  Please capture power rail, NRESET and WARMRST on scope.  Can you communicate with device over USB?  Are you using mmWaveStudio?

    regards,

    Ali

  • Hi Ali

    Below are result captured:

It should behave like left, but like right.

    does it metter?

    Regards,

    Zisheng

  • Hi,

That does not look like normal operation for WARM RESET.  After power up, can you communicate with AWR2944? Are you usinf mmWaveStudio?  Or OOB demo?

    regards,

    Ali
