OPT3006: Analog Ambient Light Sensor Alternative to BH1680FVC

Tool/software:

Hi,

We are currently evaluating a replacement for the ROHM BH1680FVC, an analog-output ambient light sensor. Could you please advise if TI offers any products that meet the following requirements?
https://fscdn.rohm.com/en/products/databook/datasheet/ic/sensor/light/bh1680fvc_spec-e.pdf

  • Analog output (either voltage or current preferred)

  • Compact package (approx. 1.6mm × 1.6mm to 2.0mm)

  • Operating at 2.8V (ideally supporting up to 5V)

  • Capable of high sensitivity in low light levels (below 100 lux), preferably with gain control

  • Operating temperature range up to ~100°C (at least 85°C minimum)

  • Minimal output variation due to temperature (we experienced issues with other sensors whose output drifted under heat)

If there are no analog-output options available, we would appreciate a recommendation for a suitable digital-output sensor (e.g., I²C) that meets these requirements with minimal temperature-related performance variation.

Thanks,

Conor

  • Hello Connor,

Our optical lineup is primarily digital. The OPT101 data sheet, product information and support | TI.com is the remaining analog device.

That being said we do have lots of great options for high-performance low-cost digital ALS. All of these are I2C compatible and the majority are spec'd    -40 to 105 deg C.

Can you tell me more about your application please?

what spectrum are you interested in measuring? Would replicating human eye response be beneficial for your product? Is a broad band measurement acceptable? Do you have a need to measure near IR?

As an additional benefit all of our digital parts in the optical catalogue will offer reduced current consumption versus the ROHM BH1680FVC

    Thank you,

    Joseph Scherphorn
