DRV5021-Q1: Calibration feasibility in hall sensor

Part Number: DRV5021-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMAG5328, DRV5021

Tool/software:

We are mounting the Hall sensor on the PCB and testing it using a fixed magnet once assembly is complete. We would like to know if there is any feasibility to calibrate the Hall sensor after the part is fully assembled. If so, could you please provide guidance on how to calibrate the IC post-assembly

  • Hi Pratap,

It is not possible to calibrate the DRV5021.  If you are looking for a way to calibrate a Hall switch, one option is to use a combination of our TMAG5328 resistor/voltage adjustable Hall switch with a DAC.  In this approach, the output produced by the DAC is connected to the ADJ pin of the TMAG5328.  By adjusting the DAC output voltage, it will cause the TMAG5328's BOP to change accordingly.  The following app note has more details on implementing this scheme: https://www.ti.com/lit/an/slya065/slya065.pdf
