AWR2944EVM: How to read the full point cloud in the range-azimuth heat map?

Part Number: AWR2944EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DCA1000EVM, AWR2944

Tool/software:

Hello E2E Experts,

Good day.

As the title suggests, how to read the full point cloud in the range-azimuth heat map?

  • Hello,

Could you give me a little more clarification on what you are trying to do? Do you want to combine these two plots into one so you can see the point cloud and heat map on the same plot? If so that is not a supported feature and you will have to view them separately. Is there a specific demo you were using?

    Best,

    Gabriel

  • Hello Gabriel,

    Good day.

Regarding the point cloud. What I want to achieve is to get the power information from every point from the scene, not just the (x, y, z, power) of detected points. The data recording function of current OOB demo only supports recording the info of detected objects, so I would like to know if there's other examples that enable me to get denser power information.
My main goal is as stated above, and the heatmap from OOB is just another approach that I'm trying. I saw the heatmap from the OOB demo and is happy about it's resolution and the refresh rate, so I'm wondering if it's possible for me to capture the data of this existing heatmap directly. If getting the full point cloud is not possible, I would like to try to get this range-azimuth heatmap.
I understand that I could collect raw data from DCA1000EVM and do the data processing to get heatmap or point cloud by myself, but I would like to know if there's other easier way to utilize the AWR2944 and get images with higher resolution.
    Regards,

  • Hello,

How are you recording data with the OOB demo? The visualizer does not support data recording

The OOB visualizer does not support data capture and in studio the range-azimuth heatmap does not work properly due to the post processing assuming a linear antenna. Thus either option has its shortcomings.

But, right now the only way to capture raw data is with the DCA. Please let me know any further questions you have

    Best,

    Gabriel
