TMP117: TMP117 Accuracy

Part Number: TMP117
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMP112, , TMP112D

Tool/software:

Dears,

We plan to design a temperature control product using TMP112 or TMP117, with 8 PCS TM117 or TMP112 per board. If the product is placed in an 80 ℃ constant temperature box, we would like to know the consistency of the 8 PCS TMP112 or TMP117?

 Thanks

    Dears,

We plan to design a temperature control product using TMP112, Accuracy requirement ± 0.2, calibrated externally, with 8 PCS TMP112 per board. If the product is placed in an 80 ℃ constant temperature box, we would like to know the consistency of the 8 PCS  TMP117?

  • Hi Ning Li,

At 80C, the TMP112 temperature accuracy min/max specification is +/-1C. We also offer TMP112Dx, which at 80C and VDD>1.5V, has a min/max accuracy of +/-0.5C. TMP112 has a long-term drift (LTD) spec of 0.0625C, and TMP112D has a LTD spec of 0.125C (LTD is determined using accelerated operational life testing at a junction temperature of 125C at 3000 hours).

At 80C, the TMP117 temperature accuracy min/max specification is +/-0.2C. TMP117 has a LTD spec of 0.03C (LTD is determined using accelerated operational life testing at a junction temperature of 150C for 1000 hours).

I also copied the datasheet graphs below showing the population distributions for temperature accuracy at 25C.

    Hope this helps!

  • Dear Sakeenah Khan

Thanks for your reply, I know datasheet graphs, but we want to know If the product is placed in an 80 ℃ constant temperature box,How consistent the 8PCS TMP112 or TMP117 ?

    Thanks

  • Hi Ning Li,

Sorry if I misunderstood your question.

If your accuracy requirement is ±0.2C at 80C, then I suggest you should use the TMP117.

If you are asking how well the TMP112 and TMP117 will match each other in accuracy/distribution at 80C, to be honest it is hard to say. The datasheet specs of TMP112/TMP112Dx (±1.0/±0.5C at 80C) and TMP117 (±0.2C at 80C) account for lot variation and part-to-part variation. The accuracy of any individual unit may realistically fall anywhere within the specification limits. So you cannot count on TMP117 and TMP112 matching each other, considering their accuracy specs are very different.

    Best regards,

    Sakeenah

  • Dear Sakeenah Khan

We won't mix TMP112 and TMP117 together,Regardless of which one is ultimately chosen, we want to know how much temperature difference the 8PCS chip shows when tested in an 80 ° C insulated box environment, thanks.

  • Hi Ning Li,

Since TMP117 has an accuracy spec of +/-0.2C at 80C, if there are devices on the far ends of the spectrum, potentially they could have a max differential of 0.4C.

Similarly for TMP112/TMP112Dx, if there are devices on the far ends of the spectrum, potentially they could have a max differential of 2C (TMP112) or 1C (TMP112Dx).

    Best,

    Sakeenah
