AWRL6844: Static clutter removal by dropping zero doppler bin

Part Number: AWRL6844

Tool/software:

Hi, Zigang

I sincerely apologize for the delay.

AWRL6844: Static clutter removal does not function properly - Sensors forum - Sensors - TI E2E support forums

Regarding the above matter, the parameters were changed as follows.

chirpComnCfg 50 0 0 128 1 40 1
chirpTimingCfg 6 24 0 50 60

But the result didn't change (the values around 0 doppler remain high).

On the other hands, by using the method of subtracting the average signal across multiple chirps, static objects were also effectively removed.

Is there a possibility that excluding only the zero doppler bin has limited effectiveness in removing static objects?

Best regards,

Shige

  • Hello Shige-san,

Thanks for reaching out. Zigang is currently out for the next week, so some of our engineers will help out for the time being. Regarding zero doppler bin exclusion vs. subtracting the average signal across chirps, excluding the zeroth doppler is easier to implement but struggles with accurate rejection if the radar is moving whereas subtracting the average is computationally more challenging than zeroth doppler removal but has more reliable performance while the radar is moving.
