IWR6843ISK: Criteria for TLV7 (SNR/noise side info)

Part Number: IWR6843ISK

Tool/software:

Hello,

I am using the IWR6843ISK with default firmware and streaming data to laptop via USB COM ports.  Attached is my .cfg.  As you can see, the CFAR db has been set very low, as an experiment.

With these settings, approximately 10-15 objects are reported each frame.  I notice that in this situation, side info is not reported for every object.  This has been confirmed by analysing the raw feed byte-by-byte; indeed side info is only present for a portion of the objects.

However, when I put the cfar db setting back up to 15, I get about 4-8 objects per frame and almost all (perhaps 95%) of objects have side info.

I'd just like clarification on what drives whether an object has side info; this info is useful for discrimination.  The context, as above, is the default firmware, direct streaming setup.

Thanks in advance.
