OPT4048: ALS sensor Design suggestions

Part Number: OPT4048

Tool/software:

Hi Team,

Can OPT4048 meet the following requirements?

When used on AR glasses, it is required to detect distances of more than 1m and a FOV of ±10 or 30 degrees

Are there any recommended designs for convex lenses and light-shielding tubes?

  • Hi Allan,

Please see below for the OPT4048 specs for the parameters you mentioned:

    Lux Range : 2.15 - 144kLux
Sensitivity : 2.15mLux. This is about 465 counts per lux
    Lux Accuracy : +/-10%
Red channel peak responsivity : 600 nm
Green channel peak responsivity : 550 nm
Blue channel peak responsivity : 460 nm
CCT accuracy : We do not have a spec here. This is dependent on calibration
    Sampling Rate: 2.4ms - 3.2s
    FOV: +/-49.5 degrees
    Operating Temperature -40C to 85C

Regarding the 1m and FOV of +/- 10 or 30 degrees requirement, this sensor is able to meet these requirements. As for the convex lenses and light-shielding tubes, may I ask what the purpose of these are? Are they to improve the FOV? Additionally, could you provide the customer's stackup? I would need to see their existing optical stack before I can give a recommendation.

    Thanks,

    Daniel
