LDC5071-Q1: OUT behavior check

Part Number: LDC5071-Q1

Tool/software:

Hi expert,

There have some cases want to check with you about the OUTx pin state.

  • Case 1: When VDD or GND connection is open, what are the state of all OUTx pins? Hi-Z?
  • Case 2: When one of OUTx wire connection is open, what are the state of all OUTx pins? For example, if OUT0P is open, is OUT0P become Hi-Z state? The other 3 output pins will remain output or disable?

Thanks!

Ethan Wen

  • Hi Ethan,

I need to check on case 1, where the device would be unpowered, but I would expect they would be in Hi-Z state.

Typically, an open output would trigger a fault, which places all output pins in Hi-Z state.  The LDC5071 includes a reduced set of faults compared with the LDC5072, so I would also like to confirm that this would also trigger a fault in the 5071.

I will provide an update on these questions tomorrow.

  • Hi Eddie,

Please provide the updates once you confirmed.

    Thanks!

  • Ethan,

For the first case, if they put the 10K resistors in the TM0 and TOUT as shown in the datasheet, then the device will OUTx will be high-Z.  If they do not have those resistors, then the device will be in a half-working state.

For the second case, if one OUTx is open, then the others continue to operate normally.  The device has no way to understand if an output is not terminated, so it cannot do anything.
