Q1: Is UART mandatory for controlling the IWRL6432AOP?
The User's Guide (swru596b) includes the following description: Application/user UART (Configuration and data communication to PC)
EVM uses a single UART port for both device configuration and processed data communication to PC.

Q2: SPI boot is supported ? HOST MCU(Flash MCU) to have AWRL6432's firmware.
Also, is the SOP setting "MODE2" appropriate?

Q1: For our EVM, we use the UART to communicate and configure the board. Are you asking regarding our EVM or in general?

Q2: SPI boot is supported under some specific circumstances such as when there is no SFLASH present. You can find more in this part of the xWRL6432 TRM. And for your next question, I am assuming you are asking about SOP for using SPI. In that case, SOP00 is the correct mode. This mode is device management mode and you can flash your device in this mode.

For Q2: Understood that SPI boot is possible if no SF by SOP00 setting from the xWRL6432 TRM.
Is it possible to boot up our radar module which does not have the SF from DCA1000? We have an interface board which we made, to connect between the module and the DCA1000.

Hi Isogai-san,

For Q1: In general, yes we can use SPI, UART, and QSPI. JTAG can also work although we recommend only using that for debugging purposes with the XDS110. You can use any of these protocols to load in a application image to the device.

Q2: We don't recommend using the DCA1000EVM to flash the device but if you want to know more about SPI booting you can find more information in the SPI bootloader example.

Sorry for the confusion. The intent of my question is whether SPI Boot is also possible from the DCM1000. The manual can be interpreted as saying it is possible...

Hi Isogai-san,

I can't say with certainty whether it is or is not possible as we have not done any testing or direct support with it. This is the reason why we don't support using the DCA1000 for SPI boot.

Could you point me to where in the manual it is ambiguous about this?
