AWR1843BOOST: Beam steering function development

Part Number: AWR1843BOOST

Tool/software:

Hi:

I'm trying to add beam steering feature to OOB demo based on the MRR Beam steering demo. I have a quick question to be confirmed:

Based on the existing configuration protoco of OOB, if I need to enable beam steering, I can still setup the system to run in legacy mode and use one chirp profile with TX0 and TX2 enabled right? Is there any other specific configurations that I should perform?

And in OOB code, in CLI configuration and parameters parsing code part, is there any detailed modification that I need to do for beam steering? I noticed that when I set only one TX antenna enable, I got error when configurating the mmWave module : Error: mmWave Config failed [Error code: -3110 Subsystem: 75]

Best Regard

  • Hi Yifan,

You need to configure Tx phase shifters based on the steering angle.

And in OOB code, in CLI configuration and parameters parsing code part, is there any detailed modification that I need to do for beam steering? I would suggest you to use MRR beamsteering demo instead of making changes in OOB demo.
