IWR6843AOP: How this sensor when compare with IWR6432

Hi,

I can see that 6843 comes with antenna onboard where as 6433 works differently. When come to fast moving people detection which sensor is better. I am looking for detection with 4 meters range

Can you provide comparison of these two sensors

    When tuned for maximum performance, 6843 will always have better results than 6432. 6843's superiority is due to the extra antennas, memory available on chip, and core speeds which allow for more sophisticated processing algorithms. For a quick point cloud level comparison,  check out 3D People Tracking for 6843 and 6432. Both have an animated image near the top of the user guide showcasing performance.

    6432 strengths is its significantly less power usage, lower cost, and smaller size

  • Hi Pedrhom,

    My requirement is to track fast mover people within 0-4 meters distance. It has to give upto 3-5 cm accuracy in terms of distance and 5 degree accuracy in terms of angle.

    Also, expecting around 40-60 data points in a second. For this, do you think 6432 is sufficient?

    I also can see the instruction saying, device needs to be elevated at 1.5 to 2.5 m and inclined 10 degrees downwards. Is it mandatory?

    Range resolution and angular accuracy listed can be met. And when you say data points, are you saying individual points in a point cloud? At what frame periodicity? Or are you saying you want 40-60 frames of radar data per second (this is impossible).  If you the richer, denser clustering in your point cloud then you will need a 6843.

    Mounting angle and height listed is simply ideal for the default .cfg configuration provided alongside the example project. Different ranges and resolutions can be achieved via changing a few fields within the parameters listed in the .cfg. Even without changing any parameters, it will work fine, but for example the Z value of points may be off if you have it mounted lower/higher than the configuration expects.
