OPT3007: Detection accuracy of OPT3007

Part Number: OPT3007

Tool/software:

Dear TI engineer,

We have one question about the detection accuracy of OPT3007, that is, from the datasheet we can learned that the below information.

But in our actual testing, we found that the measured data differed significantly. The data measured at the same location are as follows:

Even if we place the three test samples in the same position and with the same lighting angle, the data obtained will still be the same as in the picture above.

Can you give us some suggestion for this issue?

Thanks,

Kind Regards

  • Hello Lumina,

I am assuming that top value on display is lux reading?

    Your devices show +/- 21.8 % variation

    From data sheet:

OPT3007 has specified lux output of +/- 20% absolute possible variation.

Do you know the cover glass variation?

Do you know variation of light source?

If device was tested uncovered with sensor placed in exact same location and orientation for each device I suspect you would see much tighter results. Even more so with known stable source using steady DC power in an enclosed environment with only the one source available.

It is also important that solder/reflow profile is followed for optimum results though I doubt this is relevant unless devices appear visibly damaged.

I suspect there is a decent amount of variation in your system and testing. Likely from compounding issues of cover glass, lighting and positioning of sensor for test.

    Thank you,
