AWR1843BOOST: Gesture Recognition

Part Number: AWR1843BOOST
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AWR1843,

Tool/software:

Hello TI Experts,

I am currently working with the AWR1843 EVK and would like to implement a gesture recognition application. Could you please let me know which SDK I should download for this purpose?

I noticed that in SDK version 5, the gesture recognition demo is supported for the low-power board (XWRL1432), but I need the equivalent support for the AWR1843.

Additionally, could you provide the user manual or documentation for the software—specifically covering details such as how to flash the firmware and where the .bin file can be found?

I have also attached a screenshot showing the supported applications for the AWR1843 board for your reference.

Thank you in advance for your guidance.

Rakesh

  • Hi,

If you are interested in Gesture Recognition, AWR1843BOOST is not the right EVM because of the antenna.

The AWR1843BOOST antenna is designed for ADAS applications and will not work well for Gesture Applications.

You should look at the 6843 ISK or as you mentioned XWRL1432

    Thank you

  • Hi,

I understand your point, but I’m curious why the Gesture Recognition application is mentioned in the AWR1843 datasheet.

As you mentioned, the AWR1843 supports ADAS applications, but from what I see, it only includes Automated Parking. I even flashed the pre-built binary and tested the GUI Automated Parking application, but the output I got was just a simple distance representation of objects.

So my question is, how is this minimal functionality supposed to be correlated with a complete Automated Parking application? This is very confusing and not clear from the documentation.

  • Hi,

The AWR1843 sensor can be used for Gesture Recognition but not with the antenna on AWR1843BOOST EVM. You would need to design a new antenna. This antenna is already available for the devices I recommended.

Regarding Automated Parking, you are correct, this is not a complete application. It is just a building block that can be used for building complete applications.

You are also correct that there are not many different antennae versions and demos for 1843 because the main application for this device was corner radar.

    thank you
