AWR2944EVM: DCA1000 + AWR2944EVM

Part Number: AWR2944EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DCA1000EVM

Tool/software:

Hello TI Team,

I was working with AWR2944EVM with the DCA1000. I was following the DCA1000 training video and the associated pdf.

But, whenever I am connecting one micro-USB to the RADAR_FTDI port on DCA board, the FTDI ports do not appear in my device manager. However, when I am connecting the micro-USB to the FTDI port of the AWR board, the FTDI ports do appear in the device manager. Although it seems to be a temporary solution, I am getting "Connection failed: Calling_ConnectTarget returned 3" error in the mmWave studio output (picures attached). Also, the "RS232 Connectivity Status" remains disconnected in the RADAR_API (pictures attached). Can you please help me in solving the issue?

  • Hello,

With AWR2944EVM the USB should be connected to the FTDI port on the AWR2944EVM only. You should not be connecting USB to any ports on the DCA1000EVM with AWR2944EVM. This is described in section 2.9 of the AWR2944EVM user guide.

Also, with AWR2944EVM the RS232 connection should be made with the highest number FTDI port. For example, if you see four ports instantiated like below, you need to select COM109 for the RS232 connection.

  • Thank you, Adrian!

I followed the steps you mentioned. Now, the only micro-USB is connected to the FTDI port of AWR2944EVM, as in the following figure

This time, the XDS ports disappeared from the device manager. However, according to your suggestion, I did choose the highest number FTDI port for the RS232 connection

However, the "RS232 Connectivity Status" still remains disconnected

    with the same output error

Can you please take a closer look to see if you can help me with some additional suggestion(s)?

    Best Regards,

    Sabbir
