IWR6843AOPEVM: UniFlash flashing error

Part Number: IWR6843AOPEVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UNIFLASH, IWR6843AOP

Tool/software:

Dear TI Support,

I am using the IWR6843AOP evaluation board and encountered issues when trying to flash firmware via UniFlash. Below are the details:

・Device: IWR6843AOP EVM

・Host PC: Windows 10 / 11

・Driver: CP210x USB to UART Bridge VCP driver installed

・Device Manager shows:

  ・Enhanced COM Port (COM3)

  ・Standard COM Port (COM4)

・UniFlash session: IWR6843AOP / Serial Connection

・Image to flash: xwr68xx_mmw_demo.bin (Out-of-Box Demo)
(Later, I plan to use the 3D People Tracking prebuilt binary from Radar Toolbox.)

Procedure followed:

1. Set SOP switches to Flashing mode (101: SOP0=OFF, SOP1=OFF, SOP2=ON) and pressed RESET

2. In UniFlash, selected COM3 (Enhanced) and specified the bin file in Meta Image 1

3. Clicked “Load Image”

Error observed:

[ERROR] Cortex_R4_0: XXXX Received unexpected data!!XXXX
[ERROR] Cortex_R4_0: Not able to connect to serial port. Recheck COM port selected and/or permissions.

What I already checked:

Confirmed COM3 is Enhanced port

Repeated SOP=Flashing setting and RESET multiple times

Ensured no other applications (Visualizer, TeraTerm, Python, etc.) are using COM ports

Tried different data-capable USB cables

Questions:

What are the typical causes of this error and recommended solutions?

Are there any alternative flashing methods recommended besides UniFlash?

Where is the recommended location to obtain the prebuilt binary for 3D People Tracking (since I could not find it under Radar Toolbox labs)?

Thank you very much for your support.

Best regards,
