AWR2243BOOST: AWR2243Boost +DCA1000EVM Error on windows system while setting Up SoP mode-4(functional mode)

Part Number: AWR2243BOOST
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DCA1000EVM, AWR2243

Tool/software:

Hi

I am using AWR2243Boost + DCA1000EVM on Windows OS based set up, We have 2 set of devices, lets name Set of device A and Set of Device B , both (AWR2243Boost + DCA1000EVM on Windows over the same configuration files/ tools/environment we are using).

Case A - using mmWave studio app on windows with SOP Mode 2 (Development Mode), which is set by placing jumpers on both the SOP0 and SOP1 headers on the AWR2243BOOST EVM.

Observation – Both the device A and B is working fine as expected

Case B - configuring by DFP (exe environments ) provided by TI for windows, not using mmWave studio app, SoP Mode 4 (Functional Mode), which is set by placing jumpers on the SOP0 header only on the AWR2243BOOST EVM.

Obervation – Device A is working fine (same as case 1), but device B we are getting some errors with same set up/files/env for both devices, while AWR2243Boost configuration , It is not proceeding ahead ,,After resetting the device AWR2243 is not getting configured further, getting error-mmWave Device Power on failed for deviceMap 1 with error -8

Please help here to fix the issue,

detailed Error msg-

  • Hi,

For SW, are you using the same firmware patch for both setups?

Are you also using same power supply for the EVMs?

If the SW is identical than there must be some HW issues.

    Thank you
    Cesar

  • Hi Cesar,

For SW, are you using the same firmware patch for both setups? -- Yes

Are you also using same power supply for the EVMs? - Yes

One more point to verify the H/W we interchanged DCA1000EVM of both the devices A and B , after doing this

    observation-

Case A- both are working fine with SoP mode 2, mmwave studio

Case B- now with interchanged DCA1000EVM devic A starts giving error and B is working fine with same power supply same S/w enc / config files.

--Is it possible the Issue with DCA1000EVM?

--And if the H/W issue then both the devices are  working fine as expected with mmWave Studio, problem is only with one of the DCA1000EVM with DFP exe on windows.

Can you pls suggest some fix or debugging way ?

  • Hi,

Yes, it seems like the issue is related to the DCA1000 EVM.

Do, both DCA1000 have the same firmware version?

    Thank you

    Cesar

  • Yes both having Same firmware. s/w and config file , complete set is same constant just physical devices are different
