Test Setup for TMP112 using TI Serial Bus Evaluation Module

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMP112

I need to do some testing on TMP112 using TI Serial Bus Evaluation Module. I have no experience about I2C. Can anyone here help? Thanks!

  • Hello Wyman,

I am transferring your post to the Temperature Sensing forum.  I believe the participants in that forum are best able to help you.

  • Hello Wyman,

Thanks for your interest in the TMP112. It is important that you wire your circuit properly on the Interface Test Board in order to communicate successfully over I2C. Before attempting communications, make sure that you have done the following:

    1. Connect TMP112 pin 1 (SCL) to Interface Board connector 13 (I2C-SCK-ISO)
    2. Connect TMP112 pin 6 (SDA) to Interface Board connector 12 (I2C-SDA-ISO)
    3. Connect TMP112 pin 2 (GND) and TMP112 pin 4 (ADD0) to Interface Board connector 21 (GND)
    4. Connect TMP112 pin 5 (V+) to Interface Board connector 17 (VDUT)
    5. Connect pull-up resistors (10k to 100k) between SCL and V+, SDA and V+, and ALERT and V+.
    6. (optional) Connect a 0.01uF bypass capacitor between V+ and GND.

In the attached .zip archive I have provided a script which you can open in the tioScript software (included in the SERIAL-BUS-EVM kit) as a starting point for evaluating the TMP112. Simply open tioScript, click "Load," then point to the file "TMP112 Example Script.tso." Also inside the .zip archive is an explanation of the mnemonic command syntax used within tioScript.

Once you become familiar with how to use the mnemonic commands to talk to the TMP112, you can modify the script to perform read/write operations to different registers as you need. Let me know if there are any further questions after you review this material.
