TMP006EVM GUI says "TMP06 did not ack"

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMP006

I have a customer who just opened a new TMP006EVM and is having difficulty getting the sensor to ACK.

The bottom of the GUI says "TMP06 did not ack". He verified that power is applied per a different thread on this Forum but there is still no ACK.

Attched is a screen shot.

What else should he look at?

  • Hi Naji,

First off, the customer is running an outdated version of the TMP006EVM software. I recommend that he download and install the new version at: http://www.ti.com/litv/zip/sboc408a

Aside from that, it could be that the TMP006EVM is improperly connected to the SM-USB-DIG. Make sure that the 10-pin connectors between the boards are lined up properly. If it is still not working, disconnect everything, restart the PC and try again. If that doesn't help, there may be an issue with the EVM itself.

Let me know if he is able to get the EVM working after these recommendations.

  • Hi Ian,

The new software is still not connecting. Here is another picture.

  • Hi Naji,

Please confirm that the customer has the TMP006EVM oriented properly relative to the SM-USB-DIG, as it is possible to connect the boards "upside-down."

The TMP006EVM silkscreen text on the EVM and the Texas Instruments text and logo on the SM-USB-DIG should be visible at the same time, as shown in the image below.

    Best regards,

    Ian Williams

  • Ian,

It is connected properly. The SM-USB-DIG is recognized by the PC ans the GUI can illuminate or turn off the Power LED on command. Communication with the TMP006 is not there. The same error message is displayed when the TMP006 PCB is unplugged.

I am attaching a snapshot of the DEBUG data right after an attempt to communicate with the TMP006.

  • Naji,

Thank you for the confirmation. The only conclusion left is that the TMP006 is faulty or damaged. Please e-mail me the customer's name, shipping address, and phone number and I will have a new EVM kit sent to them right away.
