IWR6843AOP: Porting from SYSBIOS/TI-RTOS to FreeRTOS

Part Number: IWR6843AOP
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: IWR6843

Hi ,

I am using mmwave_sdk_03_06_02_00-LTS with the IWR6843 board, and I see that the entire pipeline is developed for TI‑RTOS. I would like to know if it is possible to fully migrate it to FreeRTOS, and if there are any reference resources or guides available to assist with this migration.

Regards,

Madhu

  • Hello Madhu,

We actually have a FreeRTOS version of the mmwave_sdk_03_06_02_00-LTS SDK. A few caveats:

    1. It doesn't explicitly support 6843AOP, will need to port a few things over with the biggest being the aoa2d DPU found in C:\ti\mmwave_sdk_03_06_02_00-LTS\packages\ti\datapath\dpc\dpu\aoa2dproc as the mmWaveDemo for 6843AOP is slightly different than 6843 and the FreeRTOS example demo is for 6843. That aside, everything else such as all driver code are cross compatible.

    2. Due to point 1, its incompleteness makes it something we do not give without a NDA and is given via TI's SecureResources system. If a NDA is signed with TI, then we would be more than happy to give you the FreeRTOS edition of the SDK and all respective user guides and documentation.

    Best Regards,

    Pedrhom

  • Hi Pedrhom
Thank you for your response. I believe our company has already signed an NDA with TI. However, I will confirm this internally with our business unit and get back to you regarding the next steps to obtain the required resources.

    Madhu

  • Hi Pedrhom

I have been informed that our company already has a signed NDA with TI. Could you please let me know the appropriate contact or channel to share this information with, so we can proceed with obtaining the required resources?

    Regards,

    Madhu
