DCA1000EVM: DCA1000EVM suddenly stopped working during data acquisition

During radar data acquisition, the DCA1000EVM suddenly stopped functioning. After rebooting and powering the board on again, the indicator LEDs showed the status illustrated below. A subsequent inspection revealed that one resistor had detached from the board.     It's the R157 resister, which is connected to the SPI flash.

    It is a zero-ohm link.

    let me know if you can solder it yourself and try or you need help.

  • Could you please advise whether the current LED behavior after powering on the board is caused solely by the missing resistor? If it is, I can try soldering it myself. However, since this is a company-owned board, I am not authorized to repair it myself unless I receive a clear confirmation from an official technical expert. If that is not the case, could you also let me know whether it would be possible to arrange a repair or a replacement?

    Just wanted to kindly follow up on this issue when you have a chance.

    Could you please confirm whether the missing R157 resistor alone is responsible for the LED behavior after power-up? Since this is a company-owned board, I need official confirmation before attempting any repair.

    If not, could you also advise whether repair or replacement would be possible?

    1. Can you share high-resolution images of both sides of this board and the board's serial number?

    2. With the high-resolution images we can check fully mounted board components or perform a DNP (Do Not Populate) check.

    3. From the current board image you shared, we can still see some rework or glue residue on the Resistor array (highlighted in below image) . Hence, we want to reconfirm whether you have done any rework / modifications for their testing.

     

     

    4. The R157 resistor signal is mandatory for the FPGA to load the binary from Flash. Your shared image (LED status) is the expected behavior if the board is not booted completely.

    5. Also, we have observed from the shared board image that the switch settings have changed from their default states. You have to follow the switch settings as per Default Switch position.

    • The serial number is 1925DCA1000EVM0313.
      I have not made any repairs; the marks in the previous image were simply dust.
      As I am using the DCA1000 to configure the IWR6843ISK for raw data collection, I have set the DIP switches accordingly. Please let me know if any additional information is needed.

      Additionally, I am unable to upload images in the comment section for some reason. Whenever I try to upload, I receive the following error: "An error occurred while uploading the file" and "We apologize, but an unexpected issue prevented the page you requested from being available. We've logged the issue so the site administrator can resolve the problem."
      I have previously shared the image of the back of the board with customer support.

    I have set the DIP switches accordingly. Please let me know if any additional information is needed.

    Please set the switches in the default mode as shown in my last reply (This is meant to check the DCA1000 functionality).

    It seems there is no other issue with board (Nothing observed on hardware), based on the images shared by you.

    We would suggest you to just mount (Not soldering) the R157 resistor and check if it is working.
