PGA305: error while calibrating PGA305 EVM GUI

Part Number: PGA305

error occured while running phython script error code 9009;
.ini file is required for 3P1T mode not getting what and and all values need to be give for .ini file

we required 0-4 bar 4-20ma presure sensor ...

  • Hi Siddesh,

The calibration function of the GUI is corrupted, and we do not recommend using it (this is one of the reasons why this GUI is no longer public). Please use this script to calculate your coefficients: https://github.com/TexasInstruments/precision-adc-examples/tree/main/devices/pga3xx

    Thanks,

    Maggie

  • thank u for your reply u mean to say GUI application itself not required?
how to run this script anu other solution how to callibrate in production  ...I am not getting flow only please suggest

  • Hi Siddesh,

The GUI should not be used for calibration.

The script I shared will do the coefficient calculations for calibration. You must provide the PADC/TADC DAC values, and it will produce the calibration coefficients which you can write to the EEPROM.

    Thanks,

    Maggie

  • thank u maggie
without gui application how to read PADC/TADC vaues from PGa305 and how to write to EEPROM and how to set other values in EEPROM  ..
which one u shared that is only for calculate coeficients .

  • Hi Siddesh,

You can still use the GUI to read/write values to the PGA305. You can use the EEPROM configuration pages to load the calculated outputs from the calibration script to the device.

    Thanks,

    Maggie

  • Hi Maggie, just to clarify: should we use the ADC/DAC callibration page to read the PADC and TADC values for the script?, and then use this EEPROM configuration page exclusively for writing the final calculated coefficients? Please guide me on the exact pages to use.Our requirement is 1T3P/4pconfiguration for 4-20ma output   if it is possible please provide all data for list avilable in that page (which u shared).

  • Hi Siddesh,

Yes, you can use the ADC/DAC Calibration Page to read the PADC and TADC values. Then you can use the EEPROM Config-Digital and EEPROM Config-Analog pages to write the calculated coefficients from the Python script and to configure the EEPROM, if necessary. Unfortunately, it is not possible for me to provide the data shown in the image.

    Thanks,

    Maggie

  • Hi Maggie,

I am sharing the captured data from our PGA305 using I2C communication. I have not been able to successfully calibrate it yet.

Could you please verify the data and let me know how to resolve this issue?

ref circuit with respespect to PGA305 pin no.

If i enter same data in calculator (wich u shared ) error iscomming

if i choose 3P1T it will give h0,g0,n0 remainin all we should keep zero only?  and AFEDIAG_CFG AND AFEDIAG bit mask configuration is for what

full detailed vale and explation of all EEPROM variables and value for shared data .for 0-4 bar with 4-20ma configuration.

VBR+ and VBR- are connected to sensor input do we need any external power to sensor ?

  • Hi Siddesh,

If you do 3P1T calibration, then h0, g0, and n0 should be non-zero, and you should write zero to the rest of the coefficient values.

VBRG+ will provide 2.5V, 2.0V, or 1.25V to the sensor, depending on what you have selected for VBRG.

AFEDIAG_CFG AND AFEDIAG bit mask configuration is for reading diagnostics.

Based on the screenshots you shared, the PGA305 is configured for an external temperature sensor, which does not appear on your schematic.

You should use the following page to read the ADC codes. Set your sensor to the input where you want to the DAC to output 4mA. Select the P1T1 PADC Data cell, and then click the "Read ADC Button". Read the TADC data. Then set the sensor to the input where you want the DAC to read 12mA. Read the PADC and TADC data for P2T1, and then set the sensor to the input where you want the DAC to read 20mA. Fill the PADC/TADC P3T1 cells.

Use the data you've captured as inputs to the calibration script. The script will produce coefficients which you can write on this page in the Coeffcients and Scaling Factors table:

    Thanks,

    Maggie

  • hi maggie,

whatever data i got from script or calculator i entered that one only i am sharing all those please verify it.

i shared all captured and entered data ..please verify ..

  • Hi Siddesh,

I don't see any immediate issues. Are you still experiencing problems?

    Thanks,

    Maggie

  • Hi Maggie

yes! problem not solved yet .plese help wiyh higher priority we are loking forword your suggetions.

    thanks,
    Siddesh

  • Hi Siddesh,

What is the issue you're seeing? From the images you showed, I don't see anything concerning.

    Thanks,

    Maggie

  • if u vary pressure current is coming same ... as per u what and all i share correct?
out put pin of PGA305 what we check current or voltage?pin no 8.

how to solve this  issue ?

  • Hi Siddesh,

In a previous post, you shared an image of the EEPROM Config - Analog page, and you had selected the settings for current mode. You can measure the current by measuring the voltage between COMP and FBP on PGA305. There is a 40ohm internal resistor between the pins, so you will need to divide your measurement by 40.

What does your schematic look like?

    Thanks,

    Maggie

  • hi maggie

this is the schematic i am using according to PGA305 pin no with pressure bridge ..
for our pressure sensor need to give external voltage or what we are getting VBRG+ and VBRG- is enough ..

  • Hi Siddesh,

VBRG+ should be enough for your sensor, so long as it meets the datasheet requirements:

Are you able to measure the change in pressure at the PADC?

    Thanks,

    Maggie

  • hi maggie

we are getting 0.135v  between comp and FPB on PGA305 ..varry the pressur also it is not varying.

yes in pressure at the PADC UI it is getting  change ..

  • Hi Siddesh,

We found a typo in our script. The coefficient labeled "m0" should really be "n0". Additionally, could you please multiply the coefficient float values by 2^30 before converting them into hexadecimal.

You're using a very narrow range PADC range for your calibration - why is that?

    Thanks,

    Maggie
