TMP117: TMP117: Unique ID verification — variant, byte order, and NIST/ISO 17025 traceability request

Our TMP117 sensors are embedded in a finished product, so we can't physically inspect the package marking. We'd like to verify them via the factory-programmed Unique ID (EEPROM1/2/3).

 

Readings:

Device 0x48: EEPROM1=0x4F6D  EEPROM2=0x0F82  EEPROM3=0x0E04  -> assumed ID: 0x4F6D0F820E04

Device 0x49: EEPROM1=0x4F89  EEPROM2=0x0F69  EEPROM3=0x03D8  -> assumed ID: 0x4F890F6903D8

 

Questions:

  1. Can you confirm the correct byte order for constructing the 48-bit Unique ID from these three registers?
  2. Do these IDs match valid TI production records, and if so, which variant (TMP117/M/N) and package?
  3. How do we request NIST/ISO 17025 calibration traceability documentation for these serials -- via Unique ID alone, or do we also need lot/date code from the part marking?
  4. Is there a self-service tool for this, or is a manual request required each time?

This is for supplier part verification on a finished product where the chip isn't visually accessible.

  • Hello Kittitouch,

    Per the NIST Traceability for Temperature and Humidity Sensors document, the TMP117 is NIST Tier 1B. This means that it will need the Lot Number from the shipping label in order to create a NIST calibration certificate. There is no self-service tool for this process, and you must email me with your IDs in order to get certificates, assuming you already have an NDA.

    If you want me to decode your device ID, you must also provide variant and package information.
