SM320F2812-HT: Highest temperature micro controller

Dear TI component selection team,

We require a very high temperature micro-controller for an upcoming project with the SM320F2812-HT being the obvious high temp candidate. The datasheet states 'custom temperature ranges available', what are these ranges and is 220°C the highest possible? Also are there samples or low volume orders we can make to test this DSP please?

The 220C is the highest possible, to be honest I'm not really sure why that footnote exists...at least for the standard orderable we would always ship a fixed temperature device.

I assume you are interested in the 172 CFP package and not the KGD(which is just bare die).

I have fwd your info to our marketing team with regards to the samples, for very early FW development could you use https://www.ti.com/product/TMS320F2812/part-details/TMS320F2812PGFA the catalog version of the device? I realize that this is a different footprint, so would require a different PCB, but thought I would ask.

Thanks for the reply Matthew. Do you have any data on the device surviving at ambient temperatures higher than this while powered off please, or is this beyond any test data available from TI?

I did some searching, and given the 220C operating temperature, storage temp should be in the 250C range. This would also comply with the definition found in MIL-STD-883. However, I can't find a hard source to back this up, just to be up front with you.

As a follow up to the original question - could you confirm why the 172 CFP package isn't RoHS compliant? Would it be because of lead in package?

Jake,

I did a quick search, and while the material composition for this part number is missing; a device with the same TI package designator(HFG) https://www.ti.com/quality-reliability-packaging-download/report?opn=5962-1123701VXC did have this listed.

Apparently there is 0.00327mg of lead in the lead frame plating; and I would conclude this flags as non RoHS compliant.
