IWRL6432FSPEVM: Sensor Output Data / Emulation Data

Hello TI Team. 

I am wondering if it is possible to get an sensor output data / emulation data. My team and I are hoping to use this sensor but are first emualting it to make sure it can match our needs on the type of data it can output based on what it recieves. We have tried using the SDK and such but come into an issue of finding out it is only possible to get certain information/data with the physical hardware. 

 

Please let me know if I can get certain files or data specific to trying to emulate the sensor.

    I'm not sure I fully understand what files or data are you requesting. In ordinary operation, the radar can output processed data in several formats. Most commonly, the radar sends serialized detected points over UART. This is described in the SDK and in the Radar Toolbox. In addition, I've attached a JSON file with a few minutes of data recording, captured from the UART output of a IWRL6432AOP, and using the mmWave Data Recorder. This data can be replayed using the Industrial Visualizer, found in the Radar Toolbox.

    The DCA1000 device can also be used to capture raw ADC samples directly from the analog front end of a TI radar. However, the FSP EVM is not compatible with the DCA1000, and TI recommends evaluating the IWRL6432 using a different EVM (IWRL6432BOOST, IWRL6432AOPEVM), as these EVMs allow for data capture and debugging, along with more data output options. Therefore, raw ADC data is not available for the IWRL6432FSP EVM.

  • Hello! Thank you for your prompt response. I am guessing if I were to look into IWRL6432AOPEVM. Then I would be able to get raw ADC data and data capture and debugging in comparison to the IWRL6432FSPEVM?


    Additionally, is it possible to get a JSON file about what data output the IWRL6432AOPEVM gives? Please let me know. Thank you for help!

    The JSON file I sent earlier was captured with the IWRL6432AOP EVM. The data would be identical from an IWRL6432AOP, the EVM just enables direct evaluation of the device.

    The main difference between the IWRL6432BOOST and IWRL6432AOP EVM is the antenna design. The IWRL6432BOOST has the same antenna as the IWRL6432FSP EVM, so if your goal is to use the FSP in your design, I would evaluate the device with the IWRL6432BOOST. If you're looking for an antenna on package device, I'd recommend using the IWRL6432AOP EVM. 

    In any case, the JSON would look the same across devices. The DCA1000 is compatible with both the IWRL6432BOOST and IWRL6432AOP EVM, to capture raw ADC data, if required. So, a DCA1000 connected to a IWRL6432BOOST could capture raw ADC data just like FSP.
