Thermistor help

Hi,

Is it possible to connect 2 thermistors in parralel or in series? Will it harm the devices?

It is needed to check two tempertures in different places but only 1 channel in the ADC.

Thanks for the help,

Ziv

  • Hi Ziv,

Yes, you can connect two thermistors in parallel and it will not damage them.  It would be like connecting two resistors in parallel.

That said, unless I don't understand the connections you'll make in your application you will not be able to measure the resistance both of the thermistors individually when they are connected in parallel.  You will only be able to measure the parallel combination of the two thermistor resistances.

If you only have access to one ADC channel you will have to implement some type of external switch to switch between the two thermistors to measure them individually.
