Temperature Sensor for measuring body temperature

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM35, TMP006

Hi,

Am doing a project which aims at measuring the vital parameter of a human body, for this i need to measure body temperature, which would be the best sensor for measuring body temperature. I would be interfacing it with an arduino, right now i am using LM35 sensor but its not working properly.

Thanks in advance

  • Hi Akshay,

Most of our IC temperature sensor are designed to measure the temperature of the board that they are mounted to. Using ICs to me measure body temperature is a mechanical challenge. Heat is conducted to the IC temperature sensor through the sensor’s package and it’s metal leads. Could you provide me more information as to where you placed the LM35 and how it is interfaced to the arduino? Which Arduino are you referring to (Mega 2560)?

    Aaron

  • Akshay,

I came across your question and not sure if you are still looking for a solution, but the TMP006 measures what it is "looking" at as opposed to a standard temp sensor IC that measures what it is touching.  The potential issue will be how accurate do you need the reading to be.  The TMP006 is spec'd as a +/1 1C part over the human boy temp range.
