Hello Panson,
Semiconductor devices and PCBs are good radiators of IR, so this would be a feasible application.

Hello Leonard,
We haven't tried measuring the PCB/Semiconductors with a lens setup. However, we have tried without using any lenses and were able to acheive ~1degreeC accuracy at a distance of 1cm from the target PCB board.

Hi,
I have done a lot of experiments on different materials and their transparency in the far IR range. There are very limited number of crystals that have transmissivity above .9 in that region and pretty much no materials that will have constant refractive index across entire frequency range.
Best results I obtained was with CaF, MgF and KCl crystals. But they are soluble in water. Best non-soluble solution was small sheet of HDPE.
Hope this helps.
