TMP100−EP Registers selection

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMP101, TMP100, TMP100-EP

Hi,

In the "TMP100−EP, TMP101−EP DIGITAL TEMPERATURE SENSOR WITH I2C INTERFACE" data sheet, i have observed 5 registers.

As this data sheet is applicable for  TMP100−EP and TMP101−EP,

My doubt is  for the device TMP100 - EP, is it require to configure "high and low limit (TLOW and THIGH) registers"? ,

  • Hello Ashok,

If your objective is to just read the temperature without the limits and ALERT/THERM functionality you do not need to program the Limit registers. You will get the temperature buy just powering up the part and reading the Temp register. Hope that answers it!

  • Hi,

    Thanks for immediate reply.

But TMP100−EP device do not had ALERT pin as like for the device TMP101−EP.

So how ALERTs shall be transmitted by TMP100−EP.?

once again i am mentioning my first question for the device TMP100 - EP, is it require to configure "high and low limit (TLOW and THIGH) registers"?

My understanding is as the device TMP100-EP do not had ALERT pin, so high and low limit (TLOW and THIGH) registers are not applicable to TMP100-EP. is it correct?

    Regards,

    Ashok

  • Hello Ashok,

TMP100 does NOT have ALERT pin. How ever you can use the alert functionality by reading OS/ALERT (bit D7) of the Configuration register. You can use this function by configiring your high and low temerature limits. For more information on the usage you can refer to page 7 of the data sheet, which is...
