LDC1000 magnetic density (tesla)

Dear sir,

A customer has an internal regulation limits 30 tesla maximum of magnetic density for sensors those use magnetic (field). I understand LDC is not a hall element sending magnetic itslef but using eddy current varying R and L over magnetic field.

Question is if the LDC1000 and future LDC devices specify magnetic density? and what is max tesla?

Note tha 30 tesla is a limitation to preotect magnetic card erased at 50 tesla.

Hello Katayama-san,

LDC sensors produce magnetic fields on the order of a few tens of microtesla, so they will easily meet this requirement.

Thank you very much for your answer. few tens micro tesla is excellent.

I would like to correct my typo in my email. It was 30 mili-tesla not 30 tesla. The micro tesla is stil obsolutely much lower.

What about angle resolution of BLDC motors. Can you give us some information about the motor rotor magnetic field impact on the LDC 1000 accuracy.

Hello Shaya,

Motor magnetic fields will have no impact on LDC, if the oscillation frequency of the LDC is set to MHz range. The motor magnetic field frequency is drastically smaller, and thus cannot couple into the LC tank.

The rotor magnetic field is a sinus at the RPM rate. But the stator is driven by 20Khz square wave with a high power harmonics up to tens of Mhz. are you sure about the non impact on LDC1000?

Hello Shaya,

Of course, if the harmonics extend all the way to the MHz range, they will be hard to avoid.

But, personally, I find it very difficult to believe that 250th harmonics will still be there. I might be wrong, but you have to remember that in real life there's no such thing as square wave. Especially when driving inductors...
