LDC1000 Max sensing distance VS Coil design and accuracy of data

Hello !

Firstly, TI a big CONGRATULATION for the LDC1000, I am in love with this baby and i only read the datasheet and watched a few videos. Keep up the awesome job you guys are doing.

Secondly, I have some questions for you guys.

I want to design a little gadget that will be able to sense  tiny electronic devices/components through different mediums. Mostly, if it can sense , say, a 0603 SMD resistor or capacitor from a bunch of other metalic/conductiv parts sitting on a table, it would be great.

Now my question to you guys is what is the maximum distance at which this reading is precise and also the type/size/design(for the design, if it's a PCB coil, i can use your  LDC Webench coil design tool, so no problem here. But if we're talking about different coil types, you lost me:)) ) of the coil that i would have to use.

The distance options are : a) 5-10 cm

                                                 b) 10-20 cm

                                                 c) 20-40 cm

Maybe you give me some other sensor options (tank options) that fit the purposes of my application.

Thank you !
