metal targets minimum dimensions

Dear TI

I'd like to know what are metal target minimum dimensions that can be sensed
by LDC 1000; again if pin like metallic objects with centimetric lenght
and sub millimetric diameter can be sensed (WEBENCH® Inductive Sensing
Designer can't accept such dimensions).

    Hello Francisco,

    Deep apologies for such a delayed answer.


    The rule of thumb is that the objects have to be comparable bigger than the skin depth (please look up its formula!)

    You can easily decrease skin depth by increasing the oscillation frequency.
