Hi,

According to SBOU107 equation (1), the sensitivity of thermopile sensor:

S = 1+a1*(Tdie-Tref)+a2*(Tdie-Tref)^2

Since a2 is negative, S becomes maximum when Tdie is 25 degree. In most cases, I think, Tdie means enviroment temperature. Why is it 25 degree not 30 degree for example?

SBOU107 gives a starting point of a2 in order of 10^(-5). Is it possible that a2 is in order of 10^(-3) in some specific application? What does 10^(-3) mean?

Thanks for posting your questions on E2E.

Tdie is the temperature of the Local temperature sensor built into the TMP006. It represents the temperature of the PCB. If TMP006 is not next high power consuming components that generate heat it will be very close to the environment temperature like you mentioned.

a1,a2 coefficients are fixed and do not change because it depends on the physical and thermal characteristic of the Thermopile sensor in TMP006. So, it is not possible for a2 to be in the order of 10^(-3). Please do not change a1,a2 coefficients. Hope this helps!
