Yes, you can shorted PROCHOT, GPIO[0:7], VRD1_HOT, AD_IN3, AD_IN8, and VID[0:7] to GND except REMOTE1- and REMOTE1a+ leave them floating.

I have one more doubt in this. You said that if not used, the VRD1_HOT pin must be connected to ground. But in this case, as this is an active low input, will it not be enabled by default? I believe that when the VRD1_HOT pin goes low, the PWM duty cycle will change.

The safest way without software management is connected to a “HIGH”.             

Please accept my apologies. You are absolutely correct; however, if VRD_HOT pin is connected to GND. This will just trigger the temperature threshold, where VRD_ERR is set in the status register. This can be masked out in the Miscellaneous Error Mask register. Either way should be work, but it can't be leave floating.
