Using LDC1000 for measuring load on a rod

1. I have designed a rod which had a load cell in it, so when user puts load on it, it gives the reading of load in Kgf on it.

2. Now I want to replace load cell by spring & measure the spring compression whenever user puts load on it.

Is there any application note explaining use of LDC1000 in this type of application?

Will LDC1000 be suitable for this type of application?

The LDC1000 can measure the amount of compression of a spring. From Wheeler's formula, the length, diameter, and number of turns all contribute to inductance of the spring. Having the largest possible shift in inductance is recommended for the most accurate measurement, and so the physical spring constant and the geometries of the spring should be set with this in mind.
